Embracing the Cozy Flavors of Fall
As the crisp, cool air of autumn sweeps in, signaling the change of seasons, my kitchen transforms into a haven of warmth and inviting aromas. There’s something truly magical about fall foods, especially those infused with comforting spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamom. These aren’t just ingredients; they’re the essence of coziness, wrapping you in a comforting embrace that chases away the chill. The shift in weather, even if it feels a bit abrupt from 88 degrees to 62, always ignites a desire for heartwarming baked goods that fill the home with an irresistible scent and soothe the soul.
With the arrival of cooler temperatures, our focus naturally turns to creating a comfortable and inviting home environment. This often means preparing for the season, perhaps a quick shopping trip for warmer clothes for the kids – because let’s be honest, who can resist those adorable fall outfits? While my personal desire for a warm vacation is strong, the call of fall baking is even stronger. It’s an opportunity to gather with loved ones, share delicious food, and make lasting memories, especially with recipes like this incredible Apple Pie Pull Apart Bread.

Why This Apple Pull Apart Bread is a Must-Try
This Apple Pie Pull Apart Bread has quickly become a family favorite, especially with my son, who has a profound love for all things bread. He’s already a fan of our Brown Sugar Stuffed Banana Bread and Chocolate Chunk Zucchini Bread, so it was no surprise how quickly he devoured this apple-infused creation. It’s the kind of treat that brings pure joy, and honestly, after a long summer, we all deserve a little indulgence before fully committing to sweater weather and its associated comfort foods. There’s nothing quite like a warm, sweet bread to brighten any day.
The inspiration for this delightful Apple Pie Pull Apart Bread came from an abundance of fresh apples and a desire to create a comforting fall dessert that wasn’t a traditional pie. While I appreciate a good pie, I’m simply not “a pie girl” myself. Knowing my son’s affection for bread, I sought out a unique bread recipe that could capture the essence of apple pie in a more accessible and fun format. And stumbling upon the concept of a pull-apart bread felt like discovering a hidden gem – a recipe perfectly suited for sharing and savoring.

Crafting Your Perfect Apple Pie Pull Apart Bread
The moment this Apple Pie Pull Apart Bread starts baking, your home will be filled with an aroma that is nothing short of heavenly. It’s a warm, toasty, perfectly cinnamony scent – evoking all the cozy feelings of a classic apple pie without all the fuss. This wonderful bread takes the experience to an even higher level with a luscious cream cheese drizzle. Oh yes, we went there, and it is unbelievably good! The glaze adds a tangy sweetness that perfectly complements the spiced apples and rich brown sugar filling.
What makes this bread so special is its “pull-apart” nature. The dough is carefully layered and folded, creating individual sections that are easy to tear off and enjoy. You can literally see the little folds where you can pull it apart, making it a fun and interactive treat, perfect for sharing (or not!). I sliced a few pieces for my son, and then, naturally, I had to pull a few parts for myself – purely for quality control, of course! And the verdict? Absolutely delicious. Each bite offers a burst of warm apple, cinnamon, and that irresistible hint of cream cheese. It’s a truly satisfying experience from start to finish.

Versatile Serving Ideas & Flavor Enhancements
You’ll adore the little pockets of tender apples and warm cinnamon nestled within the soft bread, all beautifully complemented by that ooey-gooey cream cheese drizzle. This bread is brimming with classic fall flavors and makes for the absolute perfect morning treat to wake up to, perhaps alongside a freshly brewed cup of coffee or a comforting mug of tea. It’s also an excellent choice for a brunch centerpiece, a delightful dessert after a family meal, or a cozy afternoon snack. Its versatility is part of its charm, fitting into any part of your day with effortless deliciousness.
For those who love to experiment, this Apple Pie Pull Apart Bread is wonderfully adaptable. I believe it would be even more divine with the addition of some chopped pecans or walnuts sprinkled into the apple filling. The nutty flavor adds a delightful texture and depth that truly enhances the apples and spices. So, next time I make this bread, I’ll definitely be giving that a try and will be sure to report back with the results! In the meantime, don’t hesitate. Head to your grocery store, grab an abundance of fresh apples, and bake this incredible bread. I can promise you, you won’t regret it – it’s a taste of pure autumn bliss!

- 1 1/2 cups apples, finely chopped (about 3 apples)
- Cream Cheese Glaze
- 2 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2-3 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, heat milk until warm (105-115°F)
- In a large bowl, place active dry yeast and pour milk over the top. Whisk until yeast is dissolved and let sit for 10 minutes
- Add egg, melted butter, sugar and salt to the yeast bowl. Mix until combined.
- Add in 1 ½ cups of flour, beat until combined, scraping down the bowl as needed. Stir in the remaining flour and mix until incorporated.
- Shape dough into a ball and place into greased bowl, turning to coat the ball.
- Cover and let rise, in a warm place, until almost double in size. (I place a heating pad on the low setting and place my bowl on top)
- Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- Combine brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cloves and cardamom in a small bowl
- Turn dough out onto floured surface and roll out into a 20×12 inch rectangle.
- Brush with ¼ cup melted butter and sprinkle on spice mixture followed by the apples, pressing down as you go so they stick to the dough, as much as possible.
- Cut the rectangle in half, lengthwise to make 2 (20×6 inch pieces) and then cut each piece crosswise into 5 (6×4 strips)
- Carefully make two stacks of 5 strips and then cut each stack into 4×2 inch pieces.
- Stagger the stacks in the prepared pan, cut sides up.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place until almost double in size.
- Preheat oven to 350°and bake 40-45 or until golden brown and cooked in the center.
- Allow to cool completely in the pan. Remove loaf just before serving and drizzle with cream cheese glaze.
- Cream Cheese Glaze
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat cream cheese and powdered sugar with 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Start with 2 tablespoons of milk until desired drizzling consistency is reached.

Elevate Your Experience: Pairing with a Warm Beverage
When selecting apples for this recipe, consider your favorite varieties. While I confess to having rather expensive tastes, often opting for the wonderfully crisp Honeycrisp, my son is a devoted fan of Granny Smith apples for their tartness. This means you’ll usually find a delightful mix of apple varieties in my kitchen, perfect for baking and snacking. Each apple brings its unique texture and flavor profile, contributing to the rich complexity of this pull-apart bread.
To truly complete the experience, I love to pair my warm Apple Pie Pull Apart Bread with a delicious caramel apple tea, steeped perfectly in a beautiful Charles Viancin Camellia Green Mug and Tip Tea Strainer Set. The aesthetic of this set is simply charming, with its nature-inspired Camellia design, and it’s incredibly functional too. Charles Viancin’s designs, as evident in this lovely Camellia and their gorgeous poppy design, are always inspired by the natural world. Their ingenious Green Tea Magnet & Infuser Set is also a hit, especially with kids who enjoy “fishing” out the infuser with the magnet on the end of the flower design. These thoughtful designs enhance the tea-drinking experience, making it a delightful complement to any baked treat.
