The Charm of Friendsgiving: Simple Joys, Sweet Memories

Friendsgiving has become a cherished tradition, offering a relaxed alternative to the often-bustling family Thanksgiving. It’s an opportunity to gather your nearest and dearest, share laughter, and create new memories in a low-stress environment. The beauty of Friendsgiving lies in its simplicity; it’s about connection, good company, and delightful food that brings everyone together without the need for an overly elaborate setup.

For me, the holiday season, despite the chilly temperatures, truly is the most wonderful time of the year. My mind is already swirling with menu ideas, but before the main event, a Friendsgiving gathering with our closest friends is a must. While I’ve got the savory dishes covered, what truly excites me are these Slow Cooker Butterfinger® Stuffed Apples. They embody everything Friendsgiving should be: comforting, enjoyable, and utterly delicious, ensuring your guests leave feeling cherished and satisfied.

Effortless Elegance: Crafting a Memorable Friendsgiving

Friendsgiving should be a joyful experience, not a stressful one. My philosophy for hosting is to keep things simple, allowing me to fully enjoy the company of my guests. Small plates, a perfectly cooked turkey breast, and a show-stopping dessert are often all you need to create a truly memorable meal. Ending your celebration on a sweet note is the perfect way to send your friends home with warm hearts and happy palates.

Creating an elegant yet stress-free tablescape is also surprisingly simple. For this particular Friendsgiving setup, I managed to find all the decor items at a single store, spending less than $40. The best part? This versatile setting can easily transition to the “big day” Thanksgiving feast, giving you a fantastic two-for-one deal on holiday decor. This approach allows you to focus on what truly matters: the food and the fellowship.

The Star of the Show: Slow Cooker Butterfinger® Stuffed Apples

Let’s get to the real reason you’re here: the dessert! These incredible stuffed apples are not only phenomenal in taste but also incredibly simple to prepare, thanks to the magic of the slow cooker. Minimal hands-on time means you can spend more time enjoying your guests and less time slaving in the kitchen. You’ll appear to be a culinary wizard, when in reality, it probably took you longer to decide on your outfit than to prep these delightful treats!

Every autumn, many of us enjoy the tradition of apple picking, often returning home with a bounty far exceeding what we can consume fresh. This recipe is the perfect solution for utilizing that abundant harvest, transforming crisp apples into a warm, comforting dessert. While they are a perfect addition to any special occasion like Friendsgiving, don’t reserve these Slow Cooker Butterfinger® Stuffed Apples solely for holidays; they make a fantastic, easy dessert any night of the week.

Crafting the Irresistible Crumb Topping

The heart of these stuffed apples lies in their incredibly delicious filling. It begins with a classic crumb topping – a comforting blend of flour, brown sugar, rolled oats, and fragrant ground cinnamon, all bound together with rich unsalted butter. But what truly sets this recipe apart is the generous inclusion of crushed Butterfinger® Fun Size candy bars. The signature crunchy, peanut buttery pieces melt slightly into the warm apple, creating an explosion of texture and flavor that elevates a simple baked apple into something truly extraordinary.

The preparation couldn’t be simpler. You’ll mix up your crumb topping, core and hollow out your apples, then generously stuff them with the delightful mixture. Arrange your filled apples in the slow cooker, add a touch of liquid to keep them moist, and let your slow cooker work its magic for just 2-3 hours on low. The intoxicating aroma that will waft through your home is enough to make guests want to skip dinner and head straight for dessert!

Serving Perfection: The Finishing Touches

Once your Slow Cooker Butterfinger® Stuffed Apples are tender and fragrant, the final step is to serve them with a flourish. We love to top ours with a generous scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream or a dollop of wholesome Greek vanilla yogurt, adding a lovely contrast in temperature and texture. For an extra touch of decadence, sprinkle additional chopped Butterfinger® candy bars over the top. Just one look, and you’ll find it impossible to resist digging right into this warm, gooey, crunchy, and utterly satisfying dessert.

Crisp and sweet Fuji apples, stuffed with a delightful crumb topping and crunchy Butterfinger®, will take your Friendsgiving dessert table to the next level!

Ingredients

  • 4-6 Fuji apples, cored and hollowed out. *
  • 1/2 cup chopped dried cranberries
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, toasted and chopped
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup rolled oats
  • 3 tablespoon unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup apple cider, apple juice, or water
  • 1 cup BUTTERFINGER® Fun Size candy bars, chopped and divided
  • 1 cup vanilla ice cream or Greek vanilla yogurt for serving

Instructions

  1. Hollow out apples and brush lemon juice thoroughly around the insides to prevent browning.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the dried cranberries, toasted walnuts, flour, brown sugar, rolled oats, small cubes of butter, ground cinnamon, salt, and 1⁄2 cup of the chopped BUTTERFINGER® candy bars. Mix until well combined and crumbly.
  3. Evenly stuff the prepared crumb mixture into your hollowed-out apples.
  4. Carefully place the stuffed apples into your slow cooker. Pour 1 cup of apple cider, apple juice, or water into the bottom of the slow cooker around the apples.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 2 ½ hours, or until the apples are tender when pierced with a fork.
  6. When ready to serve, gently transfer each apple onto a plate. Top generously with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or Greek vanilla yogurt, and sprinkle with the remaining chopped BUTTERFINGER® candy bars for extra crunch.

*Depending on the size of your apples, you may have a small amount of leftover filling.

Thoughtful Touches for a Special Friendsgiving

Beyond being incredibly delicious, these Slow Cooker Butterfinger® Stuffed Apples are truly a showstopper that will have your guests asking for the recipe. To add another layer of charm to your Friendsgiving celebration, I’ve also created a printable “thank you” tag that you can incorporate into your tablescape. These little tokens of appreciation are a wonderful way to express gratitude to your friends for joining your dinner party.

I simply hole-punched these printable tags and tied them with twine. Since the apples are cored, I found it easiest to just set the tag beside each apple rather than attempting to tie it directly onto the dessert. It’s a small detail that makes a big impact. You can download these Thanksgiving Friendsgiving Gold watercolor printable place cards to add your own personal touch.

What are your favorite Friendsgiving traditions? Would these Slow Cooker Butterfinger® Stuffed Apples make an appearance on your menu? I’m already envisioning making them for our main Thanksgiving feast – honestly, who needs pumpkin pie when you have these incredible apples?

If you whip up these delicious Slow Cooker Butterfinger® Stuffed Apples or use our printable tags, please tag me on social media! I’d absolutely love to see how you incorporate them into your Friendsgiving festivities and make them your own.
